Switching System Update

Before beginning to split this blog into several, I wished to post an update of the performance of the automated switching system. In the future, this information will be found in a new blog containing just trading notes. The 09/14/09 quote does not indicate a sale on that date but merely posting of the opening price to calculate system performance. The system actually continues to hold the TNA ETF.

  1. Hi Ran,

Are you still following this approach. I see in your page that there are no updates since Sep-2009. Your approach looks good. Thanks for sharing it with everyone.

I would also be very much interested to know what percentage of your total portfolio you would invest this way. Please suggest.

  2. Approach works fine, but hadn't had any visitors to those areas of the blog. They were all to Hokahey or Om Brzee posts. So, didn't bother to update it. Previous posts gave full instructions on how to use it, so I figured everyone who wanted it already had it on their own machines.

The only reservation I have about the method is not from the system itself, but from the "fat-finger" drop a few weeks back. That was scary and the explanations have not built any confidence that they won't happen again.

How much of one's portfolio one wishes to invest depends more on what one's objectives and perhaps age are. The ETF covers much of the diversification consideration, unless one wanted to diversify into other arenas such as bonds, other interest generating instruments, or foreign ETFs to exploit other economies outperforming the US economy.

One could also use multiple ETFs just to be in more than one, but the timing mechanism works fine. It continues to outperform most everything else.

    Hope this helps. Ran

  3. Thanks for your quick and detailed response. It is really helpful. Before your post I was seeing all the moving average related indicators that really did not work as well. I am planning to implement your approach in my investment. Thanks again.

I also read your post on Om Brzee Namaha. In fact your post is the one that convinced me to meditate on that. I did it for a couple of weeks, then discontinued. I am planning to start again with earnest.
